who invented techno is often the stuff of much heated discussion, but jeff mills was very much at the forefront, the belleville 3 story is largely mythology, there were far many more people involved at the inception of the creation of detroit techno, this video is proof positive that in 1983 detroit tastemakers weren't making playing techno however richard h kirk was making music that sounded closer to techno than anything played here, back then it was labelled industrial but nocturnal children on the album time high fiction is pretty much boilerplate techno. Not to take away from the Detroit artists, they had groove, they understand swing innately which isn't true of much of the teutonic industrial and electro music coming out of germany.

@@donnos5108 The lads from Detroit were making European music with a touch of electro and a dash of p-funk, it's all good though, the Detroit sound was stylistically different from what came before.
